A British hotel owner in Haiti has an affair with the American ambassador's wife, while the police murder people.
1.5/4 (Meh).
It's two and a half hours long, and boring, but I felt the need to watch the whole thing because I couldn't figure out where they were going with it. And it does actually have a story outside of melodrama, although the motivations are driven by the melodrama in a way that ensures it was never going to be a good movie.

2022 movie #7. 1967. Set in Papa Doc's Haiti, a Welsh hotel owner (Burton) carries on a secret affair with the German ambassador's wife (Taylor). Not great and very long. Not sure why the title. Also with Alec Guiness and James Earl Jones, later to be in "Star Wars".
Fantastic souvenir book of the acclaimed 1964 Burton/O'Toole film which I was amazed to discover in Salt Lake City's dingiest bookstore.
