Knister

Originally published in German as Das verspreche ich dir (literally, "that, I promise you"), this sweet picture-book follows the story of Bruno, a young marmot who awakens from his hibernation one spring, and becomes fast friends with a sunny dandelion. After a season of joyful play, Dandelion asks Bruno if he trusts her, and upon hearing his affirmative reply, instructs him to blow as hard as he can upon her, assuring him that everything will be fine. When Bruno discovers that he has show more destroyed his friend (or so he believes), he is distraught, and wonders whether anything will ever be "fine" again. But a promise is a promise, and Bruno discovers that a wonderful surprise is waiting for him, the next spring...

Like the friend who recommended this one to me (thanks, Kathryn!), I was charmed by the fact that Bruno is a marmot, as I don't think I've ever encountered this particular animal as a picture-book protagonist. I liked the story, with its message of trusting in our friends, even when things seem bleak, and I thought the artwork by Eve Tharlet was very appealing. That said, I'm not sure that Bruno really looks like a marmot to me (OK, he doesn't look anything like a marmot to me), which is rather disappointing. Still, he wouldn't be the first anthropomorphized picture-book animal to bear little resemblance to his supposed species (Marc Brown's Arthur, anyone?), so leaving that issue aside, the charming illustrations in A Promise Is a Promise can still be enjoyed for their own sake, as can the endearing tale of friendship and faithfulness found in the text. show less

Heksje Lilly en het ijsbeertje is een kort, humoristisch en vrolijk verhaal. Het is boek is fijn geschreven voor kinderen vanaf 7 jaar, want het heeft korte en eenvoudige zinnen. De illustraties zijn kleurrijk, grappig en passen goed bij de tekst. Ik zal het boek zeker aanraden voor kinderen (jongens en meisjes) vanaf 7 jaar. Het boek komt uit de serie " heksje Lilly", dus als het boek bevalt is er nog genoeg te lezen. Vroeger heb ik zelf heb ik ook meerdere Heksje Lilly boeken gelezen!

Ik ben zelf niet zo van de te erge fantasie boeken. Ondanks dat vind ik het een leuk en vrolijk boekje, omdat het veel humor bevat en ook veel plaatjes. Door de illustraties krijg je een beeld bij het verhaal en ga je je daadwerkelijk voorstellen hoe het is om op dat feestje van het broertje van heksje Lilly te zijn. Dit vind ik een pluspunt aan dit boek. Een minder positief puntje vind ik dat het soms iets te onrealistisch is. Bijvoorbeeld het levende varken dat er ineens was. Dit is voor show more kinderen echter hilarisch dus zo negatief is het niet persé. Al met al een prima te lezen boekje met grote letters en veel fantasie. Naar mijn mening was dit een leuk boek om te lezen. Dit boek is voor kinderen vanaf 7 jaar en voor mij als 17 jarige niet echt passend. Maar ondanks dat was het leuk om te lezen omdat er veel fantasierijke verhalen in voorkwamen waardoor je jezelf weer beetje kind voelde. Dit is een goed boek om als kind te lezen, maar ik vind dat er nog wel wat moeilijke zinnen in staan, maar dat is ook wel weer een uitdaging voor de kinderen. Het is een leuk verhaal, niet te lang en dus erg leuk voor de show more kinderen zelf. Zeker een aanrader om voor uw kind te bestellen. show less
