Empfehlenswert.
This study of hatha-yoga is primarily for the beginner who wants to learn the correct practice of yoga but lacks the opportunity to attend classes. It is based on a medium stage of difficult that most Westerners can reach within a few weeks. The postures, or asanas, are described in the fullest possible detail through all their preliminary and intermediate stages: for each asana, the duration, the method of breathing, how and where to concentrate the mind, the beneficial effects, and any show more contraindications are given. More elaborate variants are shown for the benefit of the advances student. There are many excellent photographs, some of which clearly indicate the wrong as well as the right way to achieve certain postures.Hatha-yoga is not a religion and it neither demands nor presupposes adherence to any specific philosophy. Although it has long been practiced by Hindu masters for spiritual attainment, it offers modern man an effective means of relaxing his muscles and reducing nervous tension that can bring him health, vitality, and renewed zest for living. show less
