This is a unique take on the writing life from a standpoint of not needing perfection. It would offer a useful insight to perfectionist writers to realize that sometimes it's not the perfection that their writing needs, but that little quirk to make it stand out from the crowd of other writings.
I'd never heard "wabi sabi" before stumbling across this book, so I can't really say if this is a good overview of wabi sabi, but it was a very centering, peaceful and inspiring read. I got a little lost in the chapter on wabi sabi food and put the book down for a few months, and the connections the author tried to make between tea ceremonies and being a good friend felt like kind of a stretch too, but overall the book did help improve my perspective and bring me back a little bit closer to show more the things that matter to me. show less

a Terrific book about writing and Wabi Sabi. Similar to but not the tao, wabi sabi is about beauty and transcendence and in this book, writing. Charming and a good read.
