Anna Boden

Mendelsohn and Reynolds (and the rest of a good cast) are very watchable in this somewhat depressing story of a compulsive gambler (Mendelsohn) and his mysterious benefactor and good luck charm (Reynolds) on their way down the Mississippi from Iowa to New Orleans to enter a high stakes poker game. Oddly, however, the outcome doesn't even involve poker. Nice local atmosphere in each location, but ultimately, despite the strength of the performances, it falls short.

Fun, enjoyable film. I'd have liked more of the "cat" though. And if you watch through to end of the credits, there is a scene which is hysterical for anyone who is owned by a cat.

The origin story for Captain Marvel. Carol Danvers has amnesia and she thinks she's a member of Star Force and her name is Vers. She is supposed to be fighting the Skrulls. Her amnesia is hampering her abilities. When she is sent with her team to bring in a spy, her world is turned upside down, ending up on planet C-53 (Earth). This is where she slowly learns her real history.

Not too bad. Average super hero movie.

I really had fun watching this story and it really drew me in.. Vers is a fighter in an intergalactic war, her past is a mystery but she finds herself on earth and finding that she can't escape her past or her future and what she is is complicated. It's set in the 1990s and you get to see a younger Coulson and Nick Fury and a cat with secrets.

I really enjoyed watching it and I'm looking forward to watching it again.
