This is a fun book for preschoolers through about first grade. It's about a silly unicorn who can do all sorts of fun and useful things because its horn changes shape. It's written in rhyme (though the meter is a bit awkward at times) and it has a positive message. The pictures are vibrant and engaging. My 6 year old liked it, and my 9 year old found it amusing enough that she was happy to listen as I read it. If the rhyme and meter flowed a little bit better it would be a great book, but show more it's a good book as is. show less

"...love will make a brighter world"
In this LOVEly simple book, growing plant and love resemble each other in good times and bad, new acquaintances and old. Barry Timms has found just the right tempo and Tisha Lee has made the interesting and colorful illustrations to make this book for all ages and for ESL, too. Loved it! Perfect for gifting, home, and local library.

This is Not A Unicorn is a fun, bright, colourful picture book that is silly and includes a lot of different words for those beginning to read. It has a cute ending. However, the book fails to stand out. With so many picture books about unicorns this is not one that stands out from the crowd.

While the cover of this book clearly indicates it takes place in October this book could be read at any time. A little boy meets Griselda, who is opening a brand-new bookstore. He doesn’t like to read, but with Griselda‘s help he’s going to find a book just for him. But first they must have a little fun and magic in the bookshop. This book was lovely, and the illustrations are adorable. I would like to see this book in print version as the digital pages seem funny shaped at times and show more I’m sure that has to do with how the book is laid out. show less
