Misogynistic drivel packaged in a predictable romantic plot that isn't suited for anyone. Reading books like this reminds me to be grateful for this era, even with all of its setbacks, it's really nice to see how far we've come.

Goodreads ate my review darnit. Anyway if you're in the mood for a fairly angsty book with an emotionally and physically fragile heroine, this is the story for you. Well done with believable pacing. POV from both the hero and the heroine who had once been step siblings. The POV from the hero's POV did dry up in the later part of the book which is really where I took away the star. No fair showing us what he is thinking when he still despises her but not let us into his thoughts as he falls show more in love.

Decent enough story if you like persecuted heroines. This one stretched credibility a bit because I don't really think everyone would have ignore the testimony that came out at the inquest and blamed the heroine plus the hero never even cared to find out what he'd missed while he was out of the room. I also felt that his turn around about the way he felt about the heroine was too abrupt.
Nice story of a woman just out of prison who goes to the hero's ranch looking for a job. He doesn't want to hire her but she gets stuck there in a snow storm and by the time the snow is over, she has proved she is a good worker and he hires her. He is attracted to her but doesn't want to be. I liked her but I didn't like him much. He wasn't willing to take her on her own merits at all. He was an ass to her many times especially when he makes her stay away from his daughter so her bad doesn't show more wear off on her and when he tells her she might as well sleep with him since she is not good enough to marry. When her innocence comes out, he believes her but only after the sheriff of this town tells him she'd been framed. He tells her that he loves her and all is hunky dory. He apologizes for being an ass but he definitely did not grovel enough which left a bit of a sour note in my mouth.
The book was well written though and the plot held together pretty well and it moved right along. show less
