My, my, my…what a wonderfully delightful romance this proved to be!
Jason Jones is perhaps one of my favorite book boyfriends to date – talk about having a way with words, confidence, swagger, capabilities and creativity (in and out of bed) and well…he’s gorgeous to boot…what’s not to fall in love with? And Annaliese Wynn – she was perfect for him. I loved the fact that she was a strong independent woman willing to state what she wanted and needed and willing to go after it, show more too. The fact is that the two of them together became “more” and through one another realized a love and a future that neither might ever have expected nor dreamed of before they met and dared to spend time together. I loved this book and look forward to reading the next as soon as it is ready.
Thank you to the author for the ARC. This is my honest review. show less

Summer Spice: Sexy billionaire family beach holiday romance (Scarlet Bay Romance Book 3) by Kris Pearson

Scarlet Bay #3
This book...my my my...this book…it swept me back decades as I remembered my brother in a position similar to Olliver’s when he was in high school and then again much more recently to my nephew who is in his thirties who just married someone that could have been Mei in this book. I do believe that race, culture and expectations are still front and center in some groups and this book shines a light a subject all too many may think only occurred show more in the past...and yet...I believe it still exists today.
Oliver had a big crush on Meifeng in high school and he let her know about it but her Chinese immigrant parents in New Zealand had plans for their children that included Chinese wives for their sons and a Chinese husband for their daughter...Oliver was not Chinese and definitely not for their daughter. Fifteen years later they remember one another well but can they have a relationship or will culture and parental expectations derail them again?
Oliver was a shy smallish boy in high school who must have been a bit of a nerd but boy oh boy did he grow up into a strapping intelligent all-man man a few years later. Mei was tiny and petite but strong, smart, able to get away from home and take care of herself as she traveled the world. She did run into a bit of trouble that landed her with Oliver for a weekend – and – what a weekend they had! Oliver was sure they could have a future but with Mei’s mother ill, bad blood between the families and Mei’s desire to please her parents...would they be find a way forward...together?
I loved Oliver...and I loved Mei. Together they sizzled as they made the fantasies of their youth come to life...and then some! Oliver was tender, caring but oh so much more and Mei was a feisty little thing willing to reach out and take what she wanted if even for only a weekend. Getting their happily ever after took a bit of doing but it was well worth the wait!
If you have read the previous books in the series you will see the couple from those books and catch up with them and if you have not met them before this meeting may leave you wanting more.

Santa Claws by Kris Pearson
Definitely different but decidedly worth reading, this Christmas novella is short but has deep issues to deal with and does it well. Jeff and Evie have a rough Christmas to get through on a shoestring budget but sometimes it is not money or expensive gifts that are needed to make the holiday special – nope – sometimes it is the people you spend the time with and the quality of the encounter that can make it a dream come true. For Jeff, Evie and the cat this is show more oh so true and I was thrilled that they all got their HFN ending. I was also interested in finding out what Fiona and Christian were up to after reading their story in the series I just finished. The only thing I might have wanted more of was…what will happen in the future for Evie and Jeff. Perhaps they will show up later in another book should the series be continued.

Promise You Nothing: Strangers to lovers second chances romance (The South & Sexy Series Book 8) by Kris Pearson
Promise You Nothing by Kris Pearson
South & Sexy #8
What’s a couple to do when the chemistry is off the charts, it could be they are soul mates, and the timing is ALL WRONG for both of them? What a wonderful story this one was!
What I liked:
* Emmie: strong, independent, in debt, grieving the loss of her brother, needs a solution or a knight in shining armor…or at least a carpenter.
* Josh: separated from his wife, father, starting over in a new town, more than a carpenter, capable, show more talented, smart, and more than a carpenter.
* Sparrow: daughter of Josh
* The supporting characters…likable and good friends
* The location – made me once again want to visit New Zealand some day.
* The relationship as it developed between Emmie and Josh
* The refurbishing of the old house…what a gorgeous place it would have been
* The communication, respect, and feeling of equal strength/partnership that no doubt would develop between the couple
* The chemistry between the couple and how they acted on it…even when they felt they might be wiser not to.
* That it seemed believable, and I felt as if I was part of the story
* Feeling I would like to have Emmie and Josh as friends
* All of it except…
What I didn’t like:
* Maria: Josh’s soon to be ex-wife…not much at all to like about her
* The bump or two in the road the two had…though they were overcome in the end
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely!
