Who doesn't love Max in The Grinch? He is the unsung hero. And so I loved seeing Max being "the protagonist." What would have been cooler would have been if this board book had been "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" but ENTIRELY from Max's perspective.

It definitely became a story about friendship. Which I guess is good too ;)

This book is meant to be used in conjunction with the tag junior device, and it is quite the fun package when done so. Each page is a picture of a sesame street character, evincing a particular emotion, and a two-word descriptor, such as sad face or happy face. In itself, this would be an educational but too simplistic book. The illustrations are colorful and capture the characters well, so if your child likes Sesame Street, then that in itself will draw their attention. However, the text is show more basic, and just describing emotions is not enough.

However, this book is meant for more than reading. When you use the tag junior device, the machine reads the page aloud in Elmo's voice and more. It also plays music that is appropriate to the described emotion, and describes the character and why they are feeling the way they do. It quizzes the reader, who answers the questions by touching the tag junior to certain parts of the illustration. When utilizing the book with the technology it is meant for, young readers have a fun, interactive, and educational experience. show less

A cute segway from the original Pokey Little Puppy. Yes, he is still digging under fences to get out...but this time, he goes off and finds Sesame Street. He is treated with Star like qualities by the gang at Sesame street and he is fed as they throw a mini party for him. When he comes back home, his brothers all laugh at him that he missed his rice pudding and milk but he goes off to sleep with a belly full of food and content with how he spent the day. He knows he had a better day than the show more other puppies.

Unlike other Golden Books where a young reader can attempt to read the words here, this book is really meant for a show and tell. The word print is small and the pictures are big. And, if your child is not a fan of either one of these genre's, the Pokey Little Puppy or Sesame Street, he or she will not get much out of it. show less
