Somehow the concept of baseball mysteries is more interesting that the actuality in this series, but this was the first and perhaps the best. Duffy House, veteran Chicago sportswriter, is asked to investigate the murder of the Chicago Cubs' star pitcher. HIs eager but naïve young niece gets involved as well.
An old baseball sportswriter, Duffy House, and his lively young niece investigate when TIger Stadium burns down in the middle of a controversy about replacing it, and the body of a woman who was leading the movement to save it is found on the site. The concept of baseball mysteries intrigued me, but on the whole I liked them less than I expected.
As I said elsewhere, I like the idea of baseball mysteries better than the execution in this series about veteran sportswriter Duffy House and his young niece. I this one they are investigating the Sunset Slasher, who killed an old friend of Duffy's in Dodger Stadium.
