"Elizabeth Cady Stanton" by Jan Gleiter and Kathleen Thompson is a thoroughly written story of one of the most influential women in the suffrage movement in the United States. It tells not only her story but the story of many women. The biography also includes names such as Lucretia Mott and Susan B. Anthony. This would be a great book to use for a history of the American women's suffrage movement.

A House By the Side of the Road
Jan Gleiter
A fairly new writer, I’m told (by Geraldine at The Mystery Bookstore in Dallas) – I think this is only her 2nd novel. A woman inherits an old country house from a deceased aunt, but the reader already knows that the former renter, a slutty girl with a purple car, was murdered in the house. Nobody else knows, though. Strange stains under the kitchen linoleum are an ominous hint. Soon Meg realizes something’s not right, and that show more someone is trying very hard to keep her from finding out what it is. Kind of vintage M. Higgins Clark-ish. show less

Not quite as good as I remembered from reading the story as a child, but I'm glad that I re-read the story as an adult. I think this could be a decent story to tell but would need to be shorten and paraphrased quite a bit.
Summary:
This book is about a Native American princess named Pocahontas. She was very brave and befriended the colonists that came to America from England. She married an Englishman and after having a baby, moved to England with her husband. She perished in England, but the story of her bravery lives on.
Personal Reaction:
I have always loved reading the stories about Pocahontas. She was sort of like a hero to me growing up. I loved reading about her bravery and standing up for what she show more believed in no matter what anyone thought.
Classroom Extension:
1. I could use this story to show students that it is important to be kind to everyone no matter how different they are.
2. I could also use this story to teach students a little history lesson of the first people to come to America. show less
