A too-abbreviated but fairly competent retelling of the 1964 animated television special is almost carried by the art.

My daughter liked it when she was four.

FOR REFERENCE:

Rated "Indifferent" in our old book database by Rod; rated "Good" by Adelia.
Library book. Our kid LOVES the movie version of this. However, it's got some rude comedy in it he was picking up on so we've banned the move from our home - till he's a bit older. We found this book and it has none of the offensive stuff in it. While it was in our possession, he asked to read it every night. He recognized the characters and would talk about them along with us reading the story to him. It was short enough to not drive us crazy but the story itself was missing - this was more show more of a highlight of what each of the characters did all day. (The intro to the movie in book form.) Four stars because he loved it and but also because there was no real story here. show less
A cute intro to the D&D cartoon series of the '80s, but holy wow! Battling Tiamat, an evil wizard, and a horde of dragons on the first go. That's quite the start!
Be warned, the binding on this book *will* peel off. Have some tape to fix the problem. I took off a star over that.

Onto the book itself:

My little truck-obsessed niece (aged 2.5) adores this book. We follow a truck's day, and he tells us all about his various friends on the road and the jobs they do. The narration is similar in style to the "I Stink" series of books, but gentler - if you were turned off of those books because of the main character's attitude, you might prefer this one.

I do show more find that the story here is a little choppy. Your little one probably won't notice.

So long as you have masking tape at home for that pesky binding problem, I highly recommend this one.
