This book examines and addresses common challenging break and lunchtime behaviours of pupils with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), including Asperger syndrome, in mainstream schools. Included strategies afford proven, cost effective ways to inclusively manage pupils, and to also provide them (and staff) with a happier experience of these times. Strategies are divided into three sections: indoor and outdoor playtimes and dining hall settings. Also contained is a brief history and show more understanding of autism and Asperger syndrome together with associated common displays and differences of behaviour. Specific examples of applied specialist directives conclude that a more fully inclusive approach for pupils is possible, and is also beneficial for all involved.
