Don't Let Her Go: An absolutely unputdownable, heart-pounding and twisty mystery and suspense thriller (Detective Billie Ann Wilde Book 1) by Willow Rose
I do not like to write negative reviews, but overall-- this is one of the worst books I've had the misfortune to read. I can only say that I barely held myself back from it being a DNF but only because I had to see just how much worse it could get.
To sum it up, a preposterous kidnapping and serial killer crime thriller. The characters are beyond unbelievable and completely unlikeable. The narrative flips between characters in a before and after format and is a constant stream of show more melodramatic exhortations and angst with repetitive phrases and responses to every situation. Could someone please count how many times "tears streamed down" and "smirked" and "piercing blue eyes" appear in this book? The plot just got more ridiculous as it went on and just when you think it can't possibly get more unrealistic, it surely does. It is a constant tell rather than show and so drawn out making the simple situation overly long. Lots of cliches. Totally predictable.
This is supposed to be the first in a new series featuring the character of Cocoa Beach homicide cop Billie Ann Wilde and from how she acted there is no way she could be a police detective. So unprofessional and her life is a train wreck. It's not that she's just decided to come out as a lesbian, it's her overly emotional carrying on over every single thing. In any event, I won't be reading any further installments or any other books by this author as this was the second I have tried.
This was an audio version of the book and I can't say that the narration was well done. The accents and voices sometimes didn't change when they should have and the voice of Kitty was particularly off. And the male voices, oh my.
I was shocked to see other reviews and decided it must just be me. Thank you, NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this author's work. I'm not recommending. show less

All the Good Girls is exactly the kind of fast‑paced crime thriller that keeps you turning pages long after you planned to stop. Willow Rose does a great job creating a killer tension (pun intended:) and atmosphere—the small‑town setting feels very relatable, and the mix of secrets, relationships, and danger works well together.
The story opens with a gripping mystery that immediately hooks you, and the perspectives add depth to the plot without becoming confusing. I especially enjoyed show more the imperfect but determined characters—each one feels real, grappling with guilt, justice, and fear in their own way.
At times the pacing is almost too quick and a few twists felt a bit rushed, but that’s balanced by the addictive writing style and emotional pull. It’s gripping, dramatic, and surprisingly human underneath all the suspense. It’s definitely a solid start to the series and makes me eager to read more of Harry's character. For lover of crime thrillers with a strong sense of place and character-driven conflict, this compact read at 227 pages is definitely worth picking up.
Thank you to publisher and author for gifting me the ebook through Netgalley. As always, these are my own candid thoughts and opinions. show less

Whoa…Willow Rose sure knows how to grab me by the throat, leaving me gasping, hoping…will they get to her in time?
No one thinks it will happen to them…a school shooting…
Eva had found her long lost sister, and now she has found that she has a long lost brother and her estranged father. And they need her help. She can’t say no.
Her characters are unique, fascinating and complicated.
Willow Rose has so much going on in Say You Love me that my head is spinning. She has an ability to spin show more a complicated web, making me wonder how it will all come together.
Why…what…who…
The villain is having a great time and sharing it, streaming it live online, the viewers scream for blood. Disgusting, frightening, and it unfolds like a Criminal Minds episode.
Eva Rae also has a full plate when it comes to her personal life. It is complicated, but she brings some of it on herself, unable to make the commitment to her cop boyfriend, Matt. I love him. He has the patience of a saint, but everyone has their breaking point. Her ex wants her back. Sure, they had good times and the kids would love it, but….
I don;t like what happens at 70%, but I’m not telling.
Willow Rose wrote Say You Love Me while hurricane Dorian was threatening the coast. I love that she worked that into the story and created more nail biting and danger. Never too much suspense for me and she gives me a steady supply in all her books.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Say You Love Me by Willow Rose.

Possible Triggers: Physical Abuse, Trama, Sexual Abuse of Children
The story follows the life of Emma, a young girl who is found wandering the streets alone, with no memory of how she got there. The town’s doctor, Polly, takes her in and tries to help her regain her memory. As Emma slowly starts to recall her past; she remembers that she has been the victim of a terrible crime. The story is told from multiple perspectives, including Emma’s... Polly’s...and the person that committed the show more crime. Please be aware that in spite of the cute title, there is nothing what-so-ever, in anyway... "cute" about this story! Actually, it may be hard or impossible for some people to read since it deals with trauma, memory loss, and child sexual abuse with all the resulting lucid psychological effects. I read a lot of grizzly things, but I have to admit that I was not prepared for that... but I'm not sure that the story could have been told without including it. I also have to admit that I chose the book based on the tile and the cover. I think that I should probably watch that in the future. Important questions are also raised about the nature of evil and the human capacity for violence. Seems we are not s far from the cave as we thought. The entire atmosphere of the book is eerie and chilling adding to and jacking up the tension and suspense. There are some terrific twists and turns and, I guarantee that you won't see what comes at the end. The underlying story is beyond tragic for so many reasons, but it sets the stage for the horror and the mystery. Fans of Psychological thrillers will more than likely like it or at least be able to tolerate it. Something interesting that I discovered along the way is that the title is based on an old children's rhyme. show less
