Addison again finds herself at the heart of a mystery from the past. This time it’s the death of a young girl who was the victim of a hit and run. The heart of the mystery is Belle Manor, which hides many secrets, including the identity of the killer. The investigation holds more surprises as Addison discovers the history of her own family, especially the psychic powers that are passed down through the female line. She has to choose whether to embrace what history has ordained or walk away show more just as her mother did. Her decision could have a profound effect on her husband and family. I have read and really enjoyed read the three books before this one. Each book reveals more of Addison gift...or curse...depending on how you look at it. The books really should be read in order because of this. I like a good mystery and if there is a ghost or two in it, that is even better. It starts out as a fairly typical ghost encounter but quickly turns into an engaging and emotion filled discovery of power and how that power can be used for good or evil. Two things that I find a bit offsetting. First, she leaves a newborn and runs off to solve this mystery and as the books move forward, Addison comes to process an ultimate power that allows her to use it to be judge, jury and ultimately, executioner. I find the first to be unbelievable and the second to be downright dangerous. show less
Shelby McCoy is walking home between classes when she is shot and killed. A short time later her father, Cade, is shot in the head. Cade's girlfriend of a few years, Sloane Monroe, P.ĂŤ., along with the local police, are fast on the scene to try and catch the shooter before any more of Cade's family or friends are killed or injured.

As I was reading Gone Daddy Gone, I was truly kept in suspense. What really got me was the twist at the end. As a matter of fact, I hadn’t read more than three show more or four pages before I realized that I wanted to read the entire series. So I took a little time and did just that before continuing. I’m glad that I did, because I was able to fully connect with all of the characters in this series. I definitely look forward to reading more Sloane Monroe Mysteries. show less
Book 1/4 of the Addie Lockheart paranormal series. I'm not a paranormal fan by any means, but this book wasn't bad. At first, I thought the focus of the book was going to be on the haunting, but it was more specifically about a young woman who had psychic experiences in her childhood that were repressed by her parents. When her parents were gone and she moved into a house with a spirit, that power returned to her. Addie finds out that she is a medium, as were both her mother and grandmother. show more 287 pages show less
I had this sitting in my TBR list for a while and kept skipping over it as it had the sound of a cozy mystery. I’m really happy I loaded this up and started reading though because this definitely is not cozy. The main character, Sloane Monroe, is a private investigator who isn’t afraid to get into the middle of an investigation. She is the granddaughter of an FBI agent and goes everywhere with her trusty gun. And even though she has a tough cop boyfriend, she certainly doesn’t want him show more taking care of her. I was pleasantly surprised as I read along and got to know the character of Sloane that she definitely a woman with a mind of her own and isn’t afraid to give people a piece of it.

The book starts out with what looks like a fluke skiing accident. Only the sister of the deceased doesn’t believe it was an accident and hires Sloane to investigate. Intending only to put her client’s mind at ease, Sloane takes the case. Who knew in their little town she would uncover a murder, and now Sloane has caught the eye of the murderer. With so many suspects to look into, Sloane has a dangerous job ahead of her, all while trying to avoid becoming the next victim.

This is a great beginning to the Sloane Monroe series. Sometimes the story dragged a bit, but I enjoyed the dialogue and the characters. Again, Sloane is very likeable and intelligent. I went right into the next book, Sinnerman, which I especially liked (5 stars on that one!). As long as the storylines stay as good as this and Sloane stays true to her character as she has started out, I can see myself finishing off the rest of the series in no time at all. Great stuff!
