Darby Stansfield is a sales rep at Teleco. He is a bottom feeder who dreams of entering the ranks of the heavy hitters but his boss has other ideas and Darby may lose his job in six months. No worries, though, because Darby, ever the starry eyed optimist, has a Plan.

However, to quote the great poet, Robbie Burns:

"The best laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agley"

And Darby's scheme is about to gang agley in spades.

Because his plan puts him in a direct collision course with a serial killer show more and, suddenly, saving his job is the least of Darby's worries.

When you take the slightly oblivious Darby and the terrifying Chinese serial killer, and add in the world's most inept triad, a gorgeous Chinese detective, and an ever supportive sidekick, you have Chop Suey, a delicious recipe for mayhem. It is, at times, laugh-out-loud funny and, at others, scary as hell but it is always wildly entertaining.

So get out the chopsticks, grab yourself a bowl of fried scorpions, and settle in for a night of tasty reading.

But be warned, an hour after you're finished reading Chop Suey, you'll be back, hungry for more.

Imagine finding a suitcase with a little girl stuffed inside and realizing she looks exactly like you.

Agent Abby Kane discovers an unlikely connection with a lone little girl abandoned outside FBI headquarters: They look exactly alike.

Abby brings the girl home with her to learn more, thinking a family environment might jog the girl’s memory. Abby’s efforts pay off as the investigation points toward a human trafficking ring. But as Abby gets to know the girl, she begins to think the girl show more wasn’t kidnapped or trafficked. She was sent.

Others want to prevent Abby from discovering the true nature of the girl’s purpose and are willing to do anything to silence her before she regains her memory. As Abby continues to dig, indicators suggest something else is at play, something unthinkable… and quite frankly, unexplainable. Who is Suitcase Girl?

The petite Chinese FBI agent Abby Kane is back for another entertaining mystery. That is a very good thing for us and a reason for those unfamiliar with Ty Hutchinson to get on board reading this fine author.

Russian Hill refers to a San Francisco neighborhood. Most of this story takes place in Chinatown where Abby and a SFPD detective team up to solve an apparent series of serial killer murders. I particularly enjoy the continuous action whether it be on the job or at home with her kids and show more Po Po. Even the normally mundane events of home life are entertaining.

Ty has crafted a character that the reader will fully understand and care about. She is not the invincible physically super woman of so many heroines. Abby is a woman that uses her fine mind to transcend her physical limitations. She is, however, the mental equal (or more) of the men that surround her.

What is really great about this book is a two-fer. I mentioned the serial killer theme. That takes about two thirds of the story and is a great stand alone yarn. Once solved, Abby (and only Abby) realizes that there is a subplot. I won't create a spoiler so you will have to read this excellent book to find out.

My recommendation is to get some good green oolong tea, and few rice cakes, and sit back and start reading.

A serial killer is at work in Detroit and FBI agent Abby Kane has been sent to investigate. The murders have the same MO of an earlier killer, perhaps too similar, but the supposed perpetrator of those earlier crimes is still in jail. As Abby and her partners move further in their investigation, they keep encountering road blocks from the police and even from the mayor's office. Still she is determined to to solve the crimes no matter what obstacles are thrown in their way. Despite warnings show more that these murders and a possible earlier cover-up go deeper than they could imagine, she refuses to quit even when the killer puts her and her team in their cross-hairs.

If one could call a novel about a very vicious serial killer and a corrupt city administration a whole lot of fun, Corktown would be it. Abby is an extremely likeable protagonist. What she lacks in height, she makes up for in toughness; she's the very definition of feisty. Although we, the reader, learn fairly early on who the killer is, the story moves along at a break-neck clip as Abby rushes to catch up with us. The short chapters add to the fast pacing, making this one hard read to put down. it's the kind of novel you should set an afternoon aside for without any distractions because, guaranteed, you are not going to want to stop reading for any reason short of zombie apocalypse.
