Funny, quirky, and cute. Super happy the story subverted the "leave my friends for the popular kids " trope. I feel like I understand the characters personalities very well with only a few pages. The friendships in this story are so cute. I'm excited to see these characters in a cartoon soon.
The main story invokes the spirit of Rick and Morty but doesn't have much energy. And then the second half of the book is burned off with a long story without Rick and Morty and a bunch of short stories satirizing Christmas, lamely trotting out the required send-ups of A Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life that even cannibalism can't spice up.
After two volumes, while these are entertaining, I don't feel that this materiel works as well in print form as it does in animation. What especially suffers in this format are the 'improv' alternate reality tv show and commercial episodes.
Note: Not recommended for young readers
I have never watched Rick and Morty but I have been hearing about it everywhere so I decided to give the comics a try. I have to admit it was pretty hilarious. Between the constant bickering of the main characters, the bad puns, and the sarcasm - I am sold!
In the comic, Rick and Morty are playing the Intergalactic Stock Exchange and what could go wrong? Well, everything that's what. Morty is pulled into one of Rick's schemes and (I would assume this show more happens all too often) craziness ensues.
The characters in this comic are very funny. Rick is ridiculous and seems over cynical of the world while Morty is paranoid about everything Rick says. This definitely made for some laugh-out-loud kind of moments. It was enjoyable and made me laugh and sometimes that is just what you need. I will be reading the next one to see how the series continues. show less
