This is a journey of how Anderson's father is in prison and how he misses him and finds another little boy in the same situation.I think its a great feature of this book when it can show children who have fathers who are not in the home, and how children can relate to each others home life. While I did feel bad for little Anderson, I felt encouraged by this book because it presents the children finding hope, that thier parents will return. This book is good!
A sad premise, the loss of a daughter and how it affects the family dynamics, each member. I found it hard to get in to. I never felt connected to the characters and it didn’t make me cry. The author never let me inside, I felt I was just perusing in the edges.
The author wrote this book after the death of her 16 year old daughter in a riding accident. It provides "tiny shafts of light in the darkness.
This book consists of several children relating their thoughts to God. The illustrations in "Then I Think of God" are incredible! Some kids think of God when they are outside looking at rainbows or watching flowers grow. Other children think of God when they see their friends, or when they are with their families. In each story, children give credit to God for the valuable things and people that surrounds them.
