By turns hilarious and heartbreaking coming of age story set during WWII, based on the book by Herman Raucher. The scene in the drugstore is a masterpiece. Ms. O'Neill is unforgettable
2025 movie #59. 1960. Reynolds, Curtis, Rickles. Sounds like a romantic comedy. But it's a drama. Curtis is a struggling musician and Reynolds is a struggling dancer trying to make it in NYC. He's the eternal optimist and she's all beaten down by the big city. Good performances.
A film starring Sam Waterson, Tess Harper and Reese Witherspoon (MGM, 1991).

A 14-year-old girl meets a boy.

C (Indifferent).

I gave up after 30 minutes. In that time, there hadn't been a single scene that I hadn't already seen a dozen times.

A single father is the defense attorney for a black man in the south.

I would have liked it a lot more if it had focused on the trial, instead of all the business with the kids and Boo Radley. I never really feel like I'm seeing things from the kids' perspective, so they end up feeling like a distraction from the "adult" story.
