- Maureen Child was born 28 September 1951 in California, USA. She and her husband enjoy traveling, usually taking road trips with her parents. When she’s at home, she is kept busy with her two grown children and a somewhat confused golden retriever named Abbey. She is busy writing her next book.
Under her own name, Maureen Child writes short contemporary novels—books she loves to write because of their fast pace and condensed story telling, she is also writing funny, contemporary paranormal romances. Over the years, she’s written under lots of different names and she prefers the term ‘pseudonym’ to ‘alias’. As Ann Carberry, she wrote western historical romances. As Kathleen Kane, she wrote not only Americana romances, but western paranormal romances as well. As Sarah Hart, she wrote one really spectacular western paranormal that is still one of her favorites. And once, Ann Carberry even wrote a Victorian historical which she absolutely loved doing. She writes paranormal romance novels under the pesudonym of Regan Hastings. Now, a USA Today best selling author of more than ninety romance novels and novellas, she is a five time nominee for the prestigious Rita award from Romance Writers of America. One of her novels, A Pocketful Of Paradise, was made into a CBS-TV movie called The Soul Collector, starring Melissa Gilbert, Bruce Greenwood and Ossie Davis. - Nationality

Cassidy Burke is not having a terrific 32nd birthday. One of her two employees at her cleaning service quits when her paycheck bounces. Her massive cowardly dog eats her breakfast sandwich. Her ancient washing machine grinds to a thunking halt spewing water all over the kitchen floor and her dog barfs up the stolen breakfast sandwich.
Then Cassidy receives two very unexpected visitors. The man who got her pregnant when she was sixteen returns to town to rekindle their relationship and show more abruptly learns that he has been a father for fifteen years to her math genius daughter Thea who had been told by Cassidy that her father died a hero. Both of them are more than irked with her.
But the real clincher is when Jasmine, supposedly a friend of her grandmother's, arrives to tell Cassisy that she is the next in a long line of demon dusters who is tasked with removing evil demons from the Earth. She takes to the task as eagerly as Buffy the Vampire Slayer which is not at all. Cassidy doesn't have time for this. She's trying to win a new client who owns a sex club in town.
The potential new client turns out to be a hottie named Devlin who is, incidentally, a demon himself. They begin a spicy relationship which she has to juggle with her ex Logan's attempts to also rekindle their relationship. All the while, dusting evil demons who have painted a target on her.
This was a fun, quirky, urban fantasy story with a main character who is in over her head. Cassidy is funny and the picture of a harried suburban mom only with demons. Her romantic relationships need to step to the side when the head demon targets her daughter Thea though. Cassidy turns mama bear with a vengeance when her child is targeted!

Very good conclusion to this series of the TCC. We've seen Mac and Andi in previous books, as Mac was the center of Rafe's revenge plot (A Surprise for the Sheikh). It has been pretty obvious that Andi has a thing for her boss and that Mac is totally oblivious.
Andi has been working for Mac for six years. She is the one who keeps him on track, knows everything about all aspects of the business and his ranch, and keeps his personal life moving smoothly too. She has worked the same hours he has show more (long ones) and is always on call when he has a question or needs something. She has finally realized that she has no life of her own, and that her dreams of a life with Mac are unlikely to happen. She makes the decision to quit her job and try to move on with her life.
Andi has been such a huge part of his life that he is stunned when she walks into his office and gives him her resignation. He can't believe that she is serious, and attempts to talk her out of it. When that doesn't work, he accepts her request for two weeks vacation before her departure, and hopes that after that two weeks she'll be ready to come back. After two days without Andi at his beck and call, Mac regrets that he took her for granted. Determined to show her that he appreciates her, Mac decides to show up at her house and help her with her long delayed renovations.
What follows is so much fun. Andi is reluctant to let Mac help, fearing that being with him constantly again will weaken her resolve to move on with her life. Mac is equally determined to remind her that they are a great team. What Mac doesn't expect is to see Andi as something more than his right hand man. I loved his surprise at noticing that Andi is a beautiful woman, and how that adds another layer to his desire to get her back to work. Andi decides to treat herself to his company, enjoy it, but resist dreaming that it could lead to more. Now that she has decided that she wants a more balanced life, she is also determined to teach Mac that there is more to life than work. I loved her bargain with him about the phone (how many of us would like to do the same thing with our loved ones?). She was convinced that he couldn't do it, he was determined that he would. His struggle was pretty funny, and I loved seeing how it all played out. His prize of taking her to dinner at the TCC was great, and I loved seeing them together in that setting. What happened next was not unexpected, and put them on a whole new level.
I loved the development of their personal relationship. They knew each other quite well on the work front, but there were still some things to be discovered. Mac had avoided relationships because of the way that business had taken over his life after his parents' deaths. Commitment would just be one more thing in an already overburdened life. I loved seeing Andi show him that it is possible to have a balanced life. Andi has loved him for years, but after watching him go through woman after woman, has no confidence that he would want a lasting relationship with her. She is surprised by his pursuit of her, but certain that it is only one way of getting her to come back to work. She begins to have a little hope as she sees him change, but when business once again interferes with the personal she sends him on his way. As he struggles against admitting his feelings, even to himself, some interference from his sister sends him right back to Andi. The question is, can he admit those feelings and find the happiness he knows he can have with her, or is he going to have to let her go? I loved seeing Andi hold out for what she needs as Mac finally sees the truth.
The epilogue was a nice wrap up for both book and series. I loved seeing the changes in Mac. Andi has gotten everything she could wish for and is ecstatically happy. I also enjoyed seeing the couples from the previous books and how they are doing. show less

Very good book. Rico has been waiting for a chance to get his revenge on Teresa for what he saw as her betrayal. He hasn't been able to forget her and this will be his chance to get her out of his system. Meanwhile, Teresa hasn't been able to forget him either. She regrets the choices she made but at the time didn't see what else she could do. Now both of them have to decide whether pride is more important than love.
I liked both Rico and Teresa. Teresa had been raised in a family that had show more been thieves for generations but when she became an adult she made the decision not to participate in that lifestyle. Her father and brothers didn't understand, but eventually respected her decision. When she met Rico the heat between them was instant, and they jumped into their relationship. Their marriage happened quickly and she never got around to telling Rico about her family. When they showed up and stole a priceless family heirloom from Rico she was furious and tried to get them to return it. When he discovered the truth he accused her of using him for her family. Her disappearance added fuel to that fire. When she showed up once again trying to stop her family she found Rico ready for her. Once again her family had gotten her in trouble with him. This time she had to submit to his blackmail. I loved seeing the way that she admitted to herself that she knew she had taken the chance knowing that he would likely catch her. She regretted the changes in him that she blamed on herself. During the month that she has to stay with Rico she decides to make the best of it and create memories to take with her when she leaves. She and Rico start to get to know each other better than they had before and things start to change between them. Her love for Rico only gets stronger and she is fully aware of how unhappy she will be when she has to leave him behind again. There were several points where she stood up to her family that were really great. I also loved the way that she became part of the life on the island and at the hotel so easily. When she has to choose again, she has to decide who is more important to her - Rico or her family.
Rico hasn't been able to forget Teresa since she left him. He couldn't believe that she had betrayed him like that. Because of past experiences he can't stand to be lied to and all he could see was that she had lied to him. When guests at his hotel have expensive jewelry stolen he suspects her family of doing it. I loved the way that he figured it out and went to confront them. He saw it as the perfect opportunity to force them to return his artifact and to get Teresa back in his bed. He refuses to trust her and plans to keep her with him at all times. What he doesn't expect is the effect that plan has on him. I loved the way he explains it to his cousin Sean and then Sean laughs at him and tells him how much it will amuse him when it all blows up in Rico's face. Rico isn't amused, but soon realizes that Sean was right. Rico can't figure out what Teresa's plan is, why she's making friends left and right with the hotel employees and even his family. Being with her is starting to make him think that maybe he had misjudged her all those years ago. He finally admitted to himself that he still loved her, but couldn't bring himself to tell her. I loved the concluding scene with Teresa, Rico, and Teresa's brother. show less

Good book. We met Gianni in Her Return to King's Bed as the brother of Teresa. At that point he was giving up his "career" as a thief and going straight. He is now working for Interpol to help catch other thieves. He is also trying to get his father and brother to give it up, but not succeeding. One night he comes home to find Marie searching his bedroom for evidence against his family. She already has an incriminating photo of his father that could send him to prison. In return for not show more taking it to the police, she wants Gianni's help in tracking down and retrieving a stolen piece of jewelry. He wants to keep his dad out of jail so he goes along with the plan, but he's got a condition of his own. She will have to pretend to be his fiancée until the end of the mission.
I loved Gianni and Marie together. Marie is attracted to Gianni and can't understand why, as a former cop and current security expert, she finds a thief so compelling. She needs his help so she goes along with his demands. The more time she spends with him, the more she sees more than just a master thief. Marie sees his love for and protectiveness of his family. She sees his determination to stay on the right side of the law. And she finds herself falling for the man she is coming to know, but doesn't think he would ever feel the same for her.
Gianni is attracted to Marie from the moment he finds her in his home. Finding out that she's a former cop surprises him, and her "proposal" that he return to his thieving ways intrigues him. He has another commitment for Interpol that coincides with a visit to his family on the island of Tesoro. He knows he can't just take her along and expect his family to accept her presence, so he talks her into posing as his fiancée. He doesn't anticipate how much he enjoys having her with him. In spite of their differing backgrounds he finds himself thinking more about the possibility of a future together.
I really enjoyed seeing Marie and Gianni get to know each other. Both are extremely proud of their family histories. Even though Gianni is now distancing himself from his, he doesn't deny that it is a huge part of who he is. They also discovered that they worked well together as they checked out the security for the jewelry show and searched for the thief that Marie needs to find. I also loved seeing the way that Marie began to like Gianni's family in spite of what they were. Gianni also realized that his feelings for Marie were much stronger than he thought when he thinks of them parting ways. But neither one can muster the courage to tell the other how they feel. I absolutely loved seeing Gianni's way of showing Marie just how much he loved her. It showed just how well he had come to know her. I really hope that there will be a story for Paulo, he really deserves to have his life upended. show less
