Sweet Holy titfire...
If I was still a practicing Catholic, I would need to be in confession atoning for my sins after reading this book. I have been around from the beginning reading all of these interconnected stories. Up to this point, the Morelli's were winning as being my favorite family of characters to root for. I still hate Caroline with a passion, but move over, Keaton and Winston because your sister has taken the top spot with a little help from Father Magnus.
I am not sure I can show more even do a review that would give this justice. All I can say is that there is a reason that this author is one of the best out there. She took taboo to a whole new level. I have to admit, I am a little disappointed that none of the priests when I was going to catechism classes, attending private school, and attending mass looked anything like Magnus which is probably a good thing since I already was rebelling at being forced to being Catholic. BUT, I sure wish they were like him because he was DELICIOUS and would have made those years go by so much faster. It also would have been fuel for the jill bank.
The author did a great job building characters that had depth. She created a plausible storyline that worked well with small cameos or mentions of other characters that have been pivotal in the Midnight Dynasty world. She built the anticipation between the characters in such a way that I wanted to, both, be put out of my misery and also wish that it kept building. When the time finally happened, it was so erotic, hot, and taboo. I loved the banter between the characters as they fought against the pull each other had on the other. There was one scene that I have never seen in a book, that shouldn't have been sexy but sweet holiest of titfires it was. I am not sure I can ever look at that particular necessity that women need the same ever again.
I highly recommend this book. It was taboo in the best of ways. This book is entirely independent and does not need to be read in any order of the Midnight Dynasty world. However, it will likely make you want to go check out the other characters' stories that were written by other authors. show less

You know those books that make you stay up until 4 am just to get to the end? That was this book. I stayed up until 4 am because the emotional toll this book was having on me was too much to put down and go to sleep. Nope. I HAD to stay up and keep turning that page.
Dawn of Eve was everything I hoped for and nothing I expected. It had tough shoes to fill following Dead of Eve and Blood of Eve, but because those two stories set up the entire world for this third installment, it unfolded show more beautifully. Dawn is both fierce and also sensitive. She is hard and soft. Her willingness and determination to fulfill the prophecy is put to the test when Salem is introduced to her life. He is both the best and the worst thing for her. Read to find out if they will save one another or if it'll all burn to the ground. You won't regret picking it up.
Thank you, Pam Godwin, for the perfect ending to this beautiful trilogy. show less

Not necessarily a bad book, but not really my thing. The premise is novel, and the torture scenes are inventive. However, it was bogged down by certain romance novel norms that I dislike, and that didn't serve this unconventional story well. Like, there's femdom, there's quite a bit of noncon against the male lead (remember that he's literally a sex slave), but the female lead is consistently treated like more of a victim than the male one, and frequently takes a passive, receiving role in show more their emotional relationship. For instance, even though the female lead causes the male lead a lot of physical harm, he provides her with a lot more comfort than she provides to him. He's the instigator in their relationship, and he never seems to need to receive much care or set boundaries, no matter how extreme the activities they engage in; and his character arc is completely oriented around helping her, not himself. Central to her character arc is her sense of guilt, which is pretty well justified by the actions she takes as a sex trafficker. Because of that, I find it uncomfortable that over the course of the story, she is absolved of any responsibility she has for causing harm in that role, either to the male lead or to others, apparently in order to render her ethically and romantically palatable. All of these things are common and even genre convention in romance novels. Still, I'd want a story about a female sex trafficker and the man she's trafficking to have a more expansive idea of male submission and engage more seriously with the idea of a woman using sexual violence against others. show less
Frankie is one tough cookie. It is one thing to try to survive in the bitter, cold wilderness but it is another when the wild has men like Denver, Kody, Leo, and Wolf. Frankie is the prey, and the guys are the hunters.
I was first drawn to Leo, despite him being the meanest towards Frankie in the beginning. I saw him as a challenge, and I could not wait to see Frankie break down Leo's guard. Let me say that it was entertaining and worth it.
Regarding, Kody and Wolf, they both won me over as show more well once I got to know them better and learned their stories of who they are. Kody with his long hair and Wolf as a protector. Finally, there is Denver, who I was guarded against trying to figure him out.
The ending of this book! I can't wait for book two. Pam took me on quite the emotional rollercoaster journey. This book is a tome but worth the read. show less
