Are "some people deserving of incivility" and disrespect? in Pro and Con (August 2014)
Reviews
This would be extremely silly if it weren't so cruel. If you want to know about people who are transgender read a book by a transgender writer. There are quite a few. This book is only fair and reasonable if you are looking for someone to tell you that there is no such thing really. The idea that guidance counselors are trying to convince children that they're a different gender? That a good place to commit rape is a public restroom full of women?
In NC the Bathroom bill gave people an show more opportunity to attack women who didn't look feminine enough. Oh, and cost the state billions. Didn't stop any rapists though.
Edited to add on March 7, 2021: Folks, don't bother posting comments attempting to rationalize your efforts or support for denying other people the most basic human rights. I am not here for that nonsense. And while random all caps and lots of exclamation points may be popular among your set on Facebook or whatever, I also have zero tolerance for that. show less

This deserves about a 3.6 but I rounded up to 4/5.
Pros:
no exclusively religious arguments
respectful, i.e. no homophobia. In fact, a legal defense in favor of gay rights
readable, while there is some philosophical jargon, the authors define their terms well
concise, only about 150 pages
balanced, while the authors have a particular perspective, they interact with opposing viewpoints including direct criticisms of their arguments
Cons:
- somewhat repetitive, the structure of the book is to show more give a defense of conjugal marriage in the first 3 chapters and then rearticulate it different circumstances. It's a legitimate structure but can appear redundant to the reader
- broad, this is the common tug-of-war with an introduction to a topic: broad and shallow or deep and narrow? Here, I think the authors went a little too broad so as to leave the reader wanting more detail. An additional 100 pages or so would have been helpful.
Overall, good introduction to the topic. I would not consider it to be a knockdown argument that refutes all opposing viewpoints, but, that isn't its intent. show less

Well researched and thought out. Mr. Anderson presents information that is easy to read and easy to understand. This is a hot topic and the author is thoughtful and sensitive in his writing; there is nothing transphobic about this book. I wish this hadn't been censored when it was initially released as this could have been a helpful contribution at the time (2018, I believe). Mr. Anderson is compassionate and is concerned about the physical and mental harm being done to children. He also show more highlights the harm being done to the safe spaces for women and girls. Every bit of this book is relevant still. I highly recommend this to everyone! show less
Excellent natural law defense of the conjugal/traditional view of marriage. The self-satisfied, self-righteous, and self-deluded proponents of marriage revisionism, who confidently declare that there exist no cogent objections to their position, will quickly learn otherwise if they have the gumption to open this text.
