This book, essentially a collection of essays from a variety of scholars, was incredibly dry. The volume appears to have been created for a particular university course and I have my doubts about it being useful outside of that context. Worse, the history and culture of England (the topic of the book) seems to get lost at times in the arguments between the scholars (some professional animosity jumps off the page in one essay), which detracts from the work as a whole.
Is a newer book and much more readable than the previous Literary Research book I have read. Recommended, even if it didn't end up particularly applicable to my own work. (Again.)
