Aesop's Fables contain relevant messages, but also outdated values. "The Wolf and the Goat" might be taken as an excuse to not try to change oneself or explore urges that come from within. However a story like "The Donkey and the Dog" has a great moral and teaches the lesson that everyone finds pleasure in something unique and relevant to themselves. The reader should use their own judgement when reading the fables and decide what morals are pertinent to their lives and which are obsolete or show more meaningless. A deeper meaning can be found in each of the fables which all force the reader to dig into their prior knowledge and come to their own conclusions. show less
The stream of consciousness connections made from flying a paper airplane through geography, culture, caging and concepts of freedom, flight, space, craft, imagination and other abstracts reminded me of the connections that intermingle the wholistic learning of the unschooling approach.
This book really grabbed my attention, it began by telling a story of a small boy sailing the ocean, he finds an island that has many animals making noise, when he finds a volcano! he gets all the animals and they set sail just in time, but trouble is still near when the waters get rapid, until his mother comes tell him to get out of the bathtub. Very cute and shows the strength of imagination.
"A Long Trip to Z" is a cute book about an airplane that flies through several different scenes, each picture containing something that begins with each letter of the alphabet.
