A friend and I used this book June 2009 to cycle from San Francisco to Oceanside, overall it's great, good directions, a bit confusing and distances sometimes a bit off but a great resource for this ride.

This book is mostly hiking trail descriptions but does include some other places and very short introductions on the parks. Photos, except the cover are black and white but you can tell they were magnificent before the b&w conversion. Trail descriptions are short in comparison to some trail guides but good enough. You wil of course bring your detailed trail map on the real hike.

A great travel book. Indispensible for people wanting to cycle this route. I found it to be very accurate, but that was 17 years ago...
