- Her writing career, the best-selling How to Know the Wildflowers, began at age 32 three years after her 6-year marriage to William Starr Dana ended with his death. She wrote two more well-received nature books in the next three years and a fourth three years later after having married James Parsons. He died after nine years of marriage when she was 44. Forty-six years later and 52 years after her fourth book, she privately printed a memoir at age 90.

Reviews
Written in 1896 as a book to be read to children, it is interesting. The language is a bit stilted, as it was at the time, I assume. Ms. Dana tried to instill of love a plants in children. I hope she did. An interesting read.
