Get Lost Becka! is a Level 1 ‘School Zone Start to Read!’ story. The vocabulary is limited and many words are basic sight words. Readers use the contextual clues from the illustrations to figure out a difficult word. The layout is one sentence and one illustration. The left page is a white blank page with one bolded sentence and the right page is a colorful illustration paralleling the sentence. The narrator tells readers about her bossy older sister, Jenny. Readers can easily relate to show more the narrator’s feelings of being left out. Children start to recognize the pattern that most of the sentences begin with “Jenny says….” Aside from being entertaining, satisfying, and educational for beginning readers, the story also includes detailed sketches with washed out colored painted illustrations. show less
