The Modern Theologians: An Introduction to Christian Theology Since 1918 (The Great Theologians) by David F. Ford
An incredible collection of essays on the "need to knows" of modern theology. Not only are there helpful essays on the leading modern theologians, but an expansive variety of other topics as well: theological responses to modernity, science and theology, theology and prayer, theology and the arts, etc... This is one reference book I'm very happy to own. I find myself consulting it often, then needing to fight the temptation to just sit down and read the whole thing!
