This is THE book to read on the Church. A brilliant work that should be required reading for all who love the doctrines of grace. If you are Baptist be careful. If you read both volumes you may not be Baptist for long. This is a powerful answer to Baptist polity and practice even if it doesn't address the Baptists directly.

Paul Jewett in his defense of credobaptism cites volume 2, but I can't help wondering if he read volume 1. Many of his questions (raised in "Infant Baptism & The Covenant show more of Grace") are easily answered in this first volume of Bannerman's two part work. show less
