The Muppets are broke, and Kermit wishes he'd never been born.
Inconsistent. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's cringe-inducingly bad. The World In Which Kermit Was Never Born sequence is great enough to keep me liking the movie and think of it as part of the Muppets Tonight/Muppets from Space era, rather than the disastrous Disney TV Movie era.

a boy has a map to pirate treasure
Nothing really works. Since it's not taken seriously, the plot's pretty much just a backdrop, and too Disney-fied to have been good anyway. The humor is rarely funny (although there are a handful of delightful bits). The musical numbers are all tedious crap. On the other hand, there's Tim Curry playing one of the most iconic villains ever and clearly loving every second of it.

Quite a funny movie, the Muppets always deliver, there's something just fun and whimsical about the muppets telling a classic story (the muppets also did A Christmas Carol)
Gonzo visits Disney's Haunted Mansion.
1/4 (Bad)
Everything about this production has strong "let's get this over with" energy.
