I want to move to Miller's Creek. Yes, I know it is a made up town for a made up story, but oh how it comes to life. I thought Cathy's collection of characters were great. From Dani and Steve to the old geezers at the store, they all have a lot of depth. I loved Mama Beth, I am so blessed to have had a Mama Beth in my past. This is not the first book I have read by Cathy Bryant, although I know this was her debut novel. I am glad I am learning about her a little late. I don't have to wait show more for the next installment. I love her work and can not wait to read the rest of this series. show less
Well, Cathy Bryant has done it again! See, she has this nasty little habit of writing wonderful books that get me all choked up and emotional, causing anyone around me witnessing the display to make fun of me. I guess I'll just have to forgive her and continue to read her wonderful stories. A Path Less Traveled is part of the Miller's Creek Series and if I may say, the best one yet (granted there have only been two so far, who knows maybe the third will top them all :) If you are a regular show more follower of my blog, you probably already know that silly little romances are my guilty pleasure. I eat them right up, but as much as I love those over dramatic and unrealistic stories, nothing compares to a solid, real romance that focuses on more than physical attraction and drama. Cathy Bryant's stories are about faith, family, sacrifice and of course, love and romance. A Path Less Traveled is by no means a silly little romance. It is wonderfully written, and there is real heart behind every single word...

Cathy Bryant has written a wonderful 31-day devotional on new beginnings that can be read at the start of the new year or anytime thereafter. In fact, I so enjoyed this devotional and found so many wonderful truths in it, that I'm contemplating re-reading it again in a couple of months. I think it will take a few readings to really absorb some of the Biblical passages that Cathy discusses and that should be contemplated throughout the year.
I was first introduced to Cathy's devotionals in the show more book "The Fragrance of Crushed Violets," and am happy to say that this newest book is a much welcome addition to her canon. If you want to get closer to God, and secular New Year's resolutions leave you empty, take the next month and delve into this devotional, which is much more satisfying and long-lasting.

Trish James is going through a very difficult time. Loosing her husband, trying to help her son cope with the situation as well as trying to make it on her own is draining the life of out of her. But she is determined to do it on her own. Even if that means leaving Miller's Creek. Andy Tyler has had a difficult life. He longs for a family of his own. Trish definitely sparks his interest and he's very fond of her son, Bo. He wants to help Trish, but she is one stubborn and determined woman. show more Can Andy help her see that she doesn't have to do it all on her own? Will Trish learn that trusting in the Lord with all your heart, means she does it His way not hers?
I loved this second installment in the Miller's Creek Series. This author writes straight from the heart and you can feel that as you read the story. In many ways I found myself convicted, because I know how easy it is to want to control everything instead of trusting in the Lord. Trish was a frustrating woman, but very true to life. Andy Tyler is a heart-be-still kind of hero. I loved watching him with Trish and Bo and admired how he handled things. He was a great example of living out 'trusting in the Lord'. I appreciated the message that God doesn't waste any of our pain. That's such a comfort when difficult times come along. And we all know they do. I also loved seeing Dani, Steve and Mama Beth again. It was so nice to have them play such active parts in this story too. If you enjoy a good story with a wonderful message then stop by Miller's Creek. Don't forget to bring your appetite, cause Mama Beth is the best cook around!
