In this album book colours are explored through short poems and watercolour images, which, with gentle rhyme and soft lines, allow us to discover sensations, emotions and elements of nature hidden in each tone. A delicate play between word and image in which the black dress of the night, the seed where all the green fits, the orange that is a small sun or the beige asleep in the sand appear on the pages as flashes of imagination. The colours we perceive can become richness and wonder for an show more attentive eye that is capable of not losing the nuances, both physical and real and those of the emotions that arise from the observation of nature. show less
I thought this book was great because of the changing mood throughout the book and because of the personification. Each page has a small poem about a different color and then a corresponding picture. For the color blue, the author writes, " Blue./ It's all in the sky,/ except for those flowers/ and that little girl's eyes," and then the picture shows a blues sky with a girl in a meadow next to a deer. Both the text and picture match to create a calm mood, which works well with the color show more blue, which correspondingly is known as a calm color. The authors personify the night by writing, "Night has put on/ her black gown,/ so the eyes of the universe/ can shine more brightly." This imagery gives the book more depth than just a book to teach children about different colors; it gives meaning and allows children to grow in their comprehension skills. The main message of this book is that colors create different moods and create emotions for the viewer. The poetry of each page depicts the different colors and the emotions that the respective colors give people. show less
Loved the simple, but beautiful water colors. I think this is a great read to use pictures to help understand the words. Bilingualism was helpful as well. Only worry about the one "crushy" heteronormative page:)
Gag. "Special" and very twee. Maybe it works better in Argentina, or NYC. I just can't help but think that this little princess is going to have some hard lessons to learn once she's free of her doting parents and has to face the real world.
