When I first heard about these authors collaborating on this story I was excited. I knew it would be the perfect blend of wit and emotions. I was correct in that assumption. There is just something special about both of these authors individually, but combined they are a force to be reckoned with. I knew the story would be good from just the blurb. However, it was better than "good", instead, it was just what I needed in this crazy world going on in 2020.
The story was refreshing, humourous, show more and endearing. I fell in love with the banter and the connection between Shane and Maggie. I laughed out loud several times at their antics and off-the-cuff snappy responses to one another. Their connection is the type that the majority of little girls dream of when they picture their someday, Prince Charming. Shane's awkwardness and Maggie's desire to live an adventure-filled life were the perfect balance for each other. I adored the secondary characters too. IF Heath wasn't already married I would have wanted his story too because his "father" type personality and role in life along with his grumpy alpha ways had me LOVING him.
This book would be great for anyone out there looking for a lighthearted read that will make them feel better. I hope that these two will find the time to collaborate in the future because they work well together. It was hard to guess who wrote what which says something. show less

If you pick up this book get ready for a page by page rollercoaster ride of heavy angst filled emotion. I mean from the start to almost the end (88% which is a long ways), I just didn't see a resolution that would be perfect for my romantic heart.
What the hell did I get myself into? This is just depressing watching these two characters who deserved happiness in their lives struggle. To be honest I struggled with the reading. This is not a book I would pick up on the norm from reading the show more blurb. I mean truly I'm the hearts and flowers reader. Obviously this is not the case with Reggie and Nora's story. However, just because my Disney animated heart prefers something different does not mean this wasn't a well crafted story.
Ms Mabie gives us 100% insight into the heads of the characters through alternating POV through a flashback and present day timeline. You watch the progression of the characters marching up to the point where the two timelines meet. It's flawlessly executed and as a reader never feel "lost" as to where we are at in the storyline. My only complaint is I often yelled at the characters to get out their own heads and communicate. But that oft happens when I'm invested to see the outcome of any story.
This novel was gifted to me by the author. To be honest, it's the first thing I have read by M. Mabie. Will I re-read Knot? No, my heart can't take it. Will I be reading any further stories Ms. Mabie delivers to the masses? Definitely. 4 out of 5 stars. show less

Really how can you resist a second chance at love story? Even though it may have been waaayyy to young at heart love the first time. The second time? Well, Sunny gets it right. M. Mabie weaves a delightful story that warms the heart and gives the reader a very satistifying ending.
"The Fuck-hot Farmer, who borrowed gloves to spare my hands and brought me meatloaf, could kiss like a motherfucker."
First, I love Sunny. Yep a girl after my own heart. Although my favorite line, I'll have to find show more a safe one for the likes of Amazon and such. But Sunny, she is not ashamed to openly ogle and drool over a grown up Rhett. And Rhett, well he's a bit bristly at first. But as the story moves on you learn to have sympathy for the young Rhett. Eventually he learns as does Sunny, people can change but some connections never sever.
So, although this is a second book in a series, you can definitely read as a standalone. Are you familar with M Mabie's writing, this is nothing like Knot or preceding books. This story is fun, romantic and everything to send your heart a flutter. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.
