An interesting overview of the subject, but not for the beginner. It covers a lot of ground, physically and stylistically, very quickly, providing images of some pieces but mentioning others matter-of-factly (but where are the images?!). I am pretty sure this was a textbook for a college class that I hung on to for a decade. I liked reading it and it was a good palate cleanser between other books.
A superb volume of Audubon's original watercolours, with clear essays on his biography, ornithological influences, and artistic techniques.
