A collection of essays, charts and cartoons about the American Military, this is a mixed bag. A lot of it is dry and overly academic, although there are a few interesting and well written essays included.
The Naval Aristocracy: The Golden Age of Annapolis and the Emergence of Modern American Navalism by Peter Karsten
Read (skimmed) pages 277-326 and 353-383 as assigned reading for War at Sea in the Age of Steam during the winter of 2023-24 while at the NWC. Learned a little about naval officers and their challenges of their career prospects back at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.
