I've looked for a decent history of Central Park, one that included the original terrain as well as the politics involved in the park's establishment, for a long time. Here it is. For the most part, it was a great read - this is a difficult subject to research and organize, and the author has done a first rate job. Minor quibble, could have used a tighter proofreading here and there, but that's okay. It remains highly recommended and a worthy addition to my NYC book collection.
