It is rare to come across a book so rich with the blistering truths that haunt the migrant worker. In this two part book Justin Akers Chacon and Mike Davis try to unravel the roots of conservative pseudo-populism, and vigilante violence in California, as well as show the grinding capitalist machine forcing millions across the desert for mere subsistence.

Heavy indictments are laid upon the system in this book, things that can be seen in the very documents American congressmen and lawmakers show more have drawn up. The system is so full of antagonisms and contradictions one scarcely knows where to begin, Chacon and Davis guide through the many hideous programs that force the worker into a hellish limbo. show less
