Nordkraft is a novel from 2002 by Jacob Ejersbo.
The novel is describing an environment in the northern part of Denmark among pushers and drugaddicts that normally isn't brought much into focus in danish literature.

The story takes place in Aalborg in the beginning of the 1990's. The book is devided in 3 parts that each has a main character. What the three persons have in common, is that they all live a life on the edge with drugs and among pushers, criminality, bad relationships and not show more caring parents. They find themself in a world that is difficult to tear oneself away from and in the struggle not everyone makes it.

Ejersbo's story is both realistic and well written. He doesn't spare the reader for the unpleasant details when he describes the life of the three existens - sucked into a grey world where the tough drug environment is all they know of.

The book were a huge succes and was in 2005 made into a film.

Incredibly overrated. First third is okay, last two thirds are extremely bad.
