Interesting from a historical perspective. But not nearly as useful as a combination of other books: [a:Chris Pye|369680|Chris Pye|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]'s books, [b:Decorative Woodcarving|6467900|Decorative Woodcarving|Jeremy Williams|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1421801695l/6467900._SX50_.jpg|6658427], etc., which have illustrations of more use to the beginner. A professional show more woodcarver or seriously experienced avocational carver may find the patterns and suggestions useful. But I think few others would. show less
Knotting And Splicing Ropes And Cordage. The Amateur Mechanic & work Handbooks. Fully Illustrated. by Paul N. Hasluck
Yeah I love this book - had it since I was knee high, a relative gave it to me when I started at Brownies, he also gave me a semaphore book which I seem to have lost. I still refer to it sometimes when I need a stronger knot.
Not a great book for Foundry work, but interesting materials and methods for figures and ornamentation.
This is a very practical book on designing pumps and rams. Not an engineering text, but still useful.
