Probably one of the most heartbreaking and clearly one of the best biographies I've read. This is a life worth knowing about, including an epic rise and fall, followed by rebirth and then an obscure end. The writer's insight and thorough research buttress a sympathetic but not uncritical account.
I'm never quite keen on the journalistic approach, but Mr Paris does a very good job, with a good sense of humour attached. The level of detail is perfect - never too stodgy but always filled with fascinating anecdotes and very pertinent asides. The context and background provided are brilliant, and I like the fact that the whole approach is sensitively handled - neither sensationalist, critical or gushing. A great insight into a fascinating person.
Very good account of the life of a Hollwood or Film icon, who did not realize her own importance. Gets into the details of her life and family upbringing and corrects the errors in her own autobiography.
can't see anyone that doesn't have an interest in Audrey Hepburn reading this unless they just like reading biographies in general. Being an Audrey fan I enjoyed reading about her life in World War II and all the struggles she had to endure. It was interesting to see all she had to do to "make it" and to read that she really is as awesome as I already thought her to be. This biography tells about her life, even prior to her being born, and ends with the events leading up to her death. This show more helped make me see her as a human being who has suffered from heartache, disappointment, and any of the other things a lot of us goes through in life. Her involvement in UNICEF makes me think even more of her. She truly was an amazing woman. show less
