As a knitter for more years that I care to admit, I wondered what I could possibly learn from a DVD on knitting! I've seen a few of the knitting DVDs from different sources and I wasn't that impressed - not well photographed, hard to see what they were doing with their hands, some personal aspect of the insructor was kind of distracting, etc. Well, after watching most of Lucy's DVDs, let me tell you, I am humbled and amazed at all I DID NOT know :) I now have all 10 of the Knitter's show more Companion series in my knitting library and they are really wonderful. The DVDs are well-organized, clearly shot, the sound and lighting is great. And of course you get Lucy Neatby teaching you in your house anytime you want and she really doesn't care if you are in your pj's! Happy knitting! show less
I bought this DVD because of the instruction about adding beads to knitting, and about the info about lace knitting & reading charts. I have a few other Lucy DVDs, and the quality of all is excellent---clear photography of knitting techniques. Lucy gives a comprehensive view of how to add beads to knitting. Although I have a knitting reference book that describes adding beads to knitting, Lucy presents a wider range of techniques. For example, I didn't realize that you could add beads from show more several rows below, but Lucy shows how. She shows how to add big beads, tiny beads, multiple beads, beaded dangles. She presents a lot of information, and she shows how to close gaps created after adding large or multiple beads so that the finished knitting is very neatly done. Also, Lucy shows how to make cables in this DVD, and tips for yarn handling. I really liked the technique she shows for making one strand of yarn into a triple thickness, this will come in quite handy. Incidentally, Lucy knits English style (throwing the yarn with the right hand). show less
Lucy Neatby clearly has years of experience not just in knitting but what knitting works best for what application. Expands your knitting knowledge and I really felt empowered and definitely more comfortable with trying different projects.

This is a vastly expanded, enhanced and beautified big sister of Lucy's earlier very popular finishing booklet.
It contains essential finishing skills that can be used in almost every situation, written in a way that will make you eager and confident to apply them. There are a series of small Challenge Swatches throughout the book to encourage you to try out (and compare) the various techniques in a small-scale situation.
