The Viscount's Heart (Weddings and Scandals) by Joyce Alec
I chose this for the plain wallflower heroine, but was disappointed to find that isn’t really a factor in the story (aside from the villain finding her biddable nature so appealing he is apparent willing to commit murder over it? And hold a peer of the realm hostage until he can marry her..? Not sure what he planned to do after that. And I am positive that there were legions of other compliant debutantes readily available so I don’t get why he went through so much trouble ). I was also hoping for some angst about unrequited love, but there really isn’t any of that either (maybe I missed it having not read the previous books). The hero and heroine spent the majority of the story apart, so the romance only occurs in their respective heads, and it felt too abrupt on the hero’s side. I usually like watching a wallflower heroine come out of her shell, but I want to see it happen with the support and encouragement of the hero who helps heal her insecurities, and there isn’t any of that here. Just not my cuppa. Also there are several sentences with repeated words, which is a minor pet peeve of mine, but it’s not a huge deal.… (more)
I really enjoyed this set of 12 clean, Regency Romances. I voluntarily chose to review this and I've given it a 4.7* average rating. There are several 5* included with this. Each one has a little action, some romance, and a HEA to the ending. Several of these were not published separately so you won't find a separate review for them. I'll be looking for more of this author.
I really enjoyed this clean, Regency Romance. I voluntarily chose to review this story and I've given it a 5* rating. Although it was not long, it was a story that pulled me in pretty fast and there was plenty of action and some bad guys in it. I really liked the brave heroine in it and it had a good ending to it. On to my next.
I enjoyed this 5th book of "Gentlemen and Brides". I voluntarily chose to review this clean romance and I've given it a 4.5* rating. This had a little bit of action in it and had me turning the page to read the outcome. There was just a little suspense in it. I'm really enjoying this set of books by this author.
