About the Author

Frederic Chopin was born on February 22, 1810, in Zelazowa Wola, a small city located near Warsaw, Poland. The son of a French father and a Polish mother, Chopin spent his childhood studying the music of Mozart and Bach, and learned how to play the piano at the Warsaw School of Music. At the age of show more seven, Chopin performed his first public concert, and eight years later, at 15, he became a published composer. By the late 1820s, Chopin was traveling across Europe giving concert performances. Falling in love with Paris, Chopin moved there in 1831, and never again returned to his homeland. Chopin began a relationship with Mme. Aurore Dudevant, also known as George Sand, in 1837. When their relationship fell apart some ten years later, Chopin was heartbroken. Chopin continued to compose, but his battle with tuberculosis, which he had been dealing with for years, caught up to him Chopin died on October 17, 1849, at the age of 39. Short biography
The great composer and pianist was born Fryderyk Chopin near Warsaw, Poland. His father Nicolas Chopin was a French émigré teacher. The whole family was musical and artistic and Fryderyk began composing as a very small child. He began serious piano instruction at age seven and was invited to play in public the following year. Recognized as a child prodigy, he attended the Warsaw Conservatory and later studied in Vienna. In 1830, at the time of the failed Polish revolt against Russian rule, he went to Paris, where he adopted the French version of his name and lived for the rest of his life. In Paris, he flourished at the center of a circle of composers, artists, and writers of the Romantic movement, including Franz Liszt, Hector Berlioz, Felix Mendelssohn, and Eugene Delacroix. His original, expressive piano style and brilliant compositions won him widespread acclaim. In 1838, he began his love affair with George Sand (Aurore Dudevant), which lasted for nine years; he composed many of his works at her country house in Nohant. Chopin was dogged by ill health for nearly his entire life. Although he managed a successful tour of Great Britain in 1848, he returned to Paris desperately ill and died at age 39.

Of the several versions I have of Chopin's works, this edition seems the easiest for me to read.
Working on #20, #4, #7, #6.
Trying to learn #15 Raindrop.
