There are many methods of propagation available to the indoor gardener and Charles Evans lists all of them in New plants from old. In great detail and with many good drawings, he explains each method - from seeds to leaf and stem cuttings - and lists the best methods for each plant. Pruning is covered in detail, both as an aid to an old plant and to gain material to begin new plants. All the necessary supplies are listed. Especially valuable is his section on rooting mixtures and what works best for each plant. He even mentions water rooting, although that is not his method of choice as water roots may not adapt to potting.

For anyone who has old plants which are getting leggy or who wants to make new plants for themselves or as gifts, this book is the perfect way to learn how to propagate and prune.

This is one of my favorit 'little' books on the subject of terrarium gardening , a lot of it's charm comes from the excellent illustrations by Betty Fraser. Has excellent lists classifying many commonly available houseplants as to horticultural needs, and type of terrarium they would be best in.
