The vocabulary is mostly known for someone past A1 reading level (advanced beginners).

The story involves Private Detective Helmut Müller and his indespensible secretary, Bea Braun, who travel to Hamburg to help one of Müller's old school friends with a mystery: A gang of masked vandals have wrecked havoc on a Chinese restaurant, and left a threatening not warning the owners to pack up and leave. Who are these vandals working for? Why is the Chinese restaurant under attack? Why does the show more book have such a boring title?

A short book with short chapters, this Reader is reasonably easy to read and flows well enough. The mystery will not keep you in suspense for long as the answer becomes obvious by the time Müller and Braun find their third "clue". However, the story is substantial enough to be as interesting as one of the slower episodes of a British crime series (like Rosemary and Thyme, for example).

J'ai lu ce roman en ayant atteint et terminé le niveau B1. Le niveau de vocabulaire est très facile à ce niveau (il faut noter que le livre est noté Stufe 1) ; il me semble que le niveau est semblable aux lectures simplifiées de niveau A1/A2.

Ce petit livre aux courts chapitres met en scène le détective Helmut Müller et son assistante Bea Braun. Helmut est appelé à l'aide par son ancien ami, Uwe Seelig, devenu professeur d'allemand comme langue étrangère. Il vient juste d'ouvrir, show more il y a un mois, avec sa femme Mai Lin un restaurant chinois. Un midi, une équipe de malfaiteurs vient menacer Mai Lin, son personnel et ses clients. Soit elle part, soit il casse tout. Helmut Müller écarte très rapidement la possibilité que cela soit la mafia chinoise, et se concentre sur le propriétaire du bâtiment. Celui-ci a vendu mais la firme qui a acheté, s'est engagé à garder les locataires. En tout cas, en théorie. Le libraire d'en face va fermer boutique prochainement. Mai Lin est le dernier obstacle à la construction d'un nouveau bâtiment très rentable. show less
