I love reading these types of books in October when the air is crisp and halloween is in the air. Short stories are the best b/c you get to sample so much. This collection of short stories was pretty good. By far my favorites were "The Blackout" and "Torn." "The Blackout" - though short - gave me that prickly feeling on my neck the way horror films did when I was a kid. It really achieved "creepy." "Torn" was great! It put me in mind of Stephen King's "Storm of the Century" with it's own spice to make it original and fun. It was a great read for me! Overall a solid 3.5:-)… (more)

I loved this grouping of stories!!! Really great way to get in the Halloween mood!! Although I enjoyed every one of these, my favourite would probably fall to either to “The Devils Due” or “The Last Night in October.” “The Devils Due” had a feel of a Halloween Krampus and was just fabulous. “The Last Night in October” was just creepy and a perfect choice to end the collection.
Pure fun. Highly recommended.

Clark. The six stories in this small volume are all absolutely top-notch. All six authors saw different potentials in the illustration and all fleshed out their ideas wonderfully. It is hard for me to pick a favorite, but the story by [a:Brian Keene|52050|Brian Keene|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1248120869p2/52050.jpg] left me thinking about it the longest. The interior artwork by Erin S. Wells wonderfully complements each story. For horror fans, this is a collection not to be missed.… (more)

Freeman expertly interweaves story lines from Henry's present day to his childhood, resulting in a great story about the nature of monsters. As Brian Keene says in the forward, this is both great literature and great entertainment.… (more)
