This is a story about a young boy whose job is to watch over the sheep while the town’s people work their normal jobs. The boy gets tired of watching the sheep everyday because nothing interesting seems to happen, so to have some fun and excitement he cries wolf and the town’s people come running. He continues to cry wolf until the town’s people ignore him. Then it really happens, a wolf comes and takes all the sheep. The moral of the story is always to tell the truth.
I grew up hearing show more this story at home and school. I have read this book to my children for the same important lesson that I grew up hearing. We should always tell the truth and to not lie for entertainment.
I would use this book as a class discussion to help encourage the children to take responsibility for their actions. I would ask the children how they would feel in the town people’s place when the young boy cried wolf. show less
