OK biography of inventor who promoted wireless and used it without scientifically knowing how it really worked. Best part is how it was used on the Titanic before it sank. Worth reading but there may be better biographies out there.

A fascinating account of the commercialisation of natural ice - including the fantastical shipment of ice to British India in 1833. Still, the essential elements of this history would have been perfectly well told in a feature length magazine article - as much of this book is a pretty pedestrian re-telling of the frozen water trade's history.

this is the prose version of a TV series shown on LWT in Britain. The book is reasonably well researched and contains a wealth of illustrations and a good account of conditions that could lead to major flooding in the city. Three panoramic views of historical impressions of the city, but no real maps. It is well worth possessing.

I love the genre of "topic history," and this is a first-rate example. Excellent read.
