1. (Fictitious character) Tony is hired as a factotum by Jim Miller, who is visiting his friends the Andersons on an island. Tony "has an abnormal affection for diseased gasoline motors," "served as captain, engineer, dec hand and cook," "knew obscure, uncharted channel," "had a special intuition for the haunts of fish and game," and "outbargained the storekeepers almost without words."
