Just keeping track of what I've read since 1995

I used to keep track of books in a little notebook, but it got hard to read so I figured this would be a better way to log. (It is.) Entering fourteen years of reading took a while so now I try very hard to keep entering books as I read them.

Some books don't appeal to me, but I enter them with the tag "dumped" to remind me later in case I forget. A lot of unappealing books are dumped without being logged here.

About Me

Retired SFPL super geek librarian.

I worked in Technical Services running reports to help Main and branch staff keep their collections current; putting our cataloging and processing specs online (in Drupal because IT had it available); loaded tons of bibliographic files, and developed and streamlined many work flows that I then documented and passed on to other staff to run daily, weekly, or monthly. For instance, I worked with vendors who supplied books in Chinese and Japanese so that we could load our selections into the Library catalog so that holds could build up before the material had actually arrived. Took a while to figure out why the Unicode wasn't working as data moved from Excel thru MarcEdit to the catalg.
